How this painting blew my mind

How this painting blew my mind

Have you ever been so frikkin’ amazed by something you are amidst creating? This oil portrait was a two session thing and after the first I was kind of blah... Then yesterday when I took it up for the second time around I just got into this incredible flow of intuitive painting. And simply blew my mind!  Whilst painting I went woooooooooow.  It’s a self-portrait painted from my mind only. The best person in my life thought it was her so I guess it’s like a duo self-portrait.  My people paintings are inspired by Facetime faces. You know when you...

Sleeping in the studio

Sleeping in the studio

My paintings are always infused with some sleepy cat love! Her name is Puffpuff and she loves this chair from my grandma. I either sit or stand when I paint and can fit my ass on the edge of the chair if Puffpuff’s in charge of it at the moment. Though she usually leaves when I do so. Today I’m continuing filming a new piece with city parrots. Hoping to release the time lapse video soon, maybe even tomorrow! Have a wonderful saturday!

Let’s face it

acrylic painting process

Let’s face it

Every movement adds to the overall expression of a painting. But when there’s a face - it can change everything. Like this one. I’ve painted over the face several times. Look at this version!   She looks a bit sad and that’s not the expression I’m going for. On the good side, all these painting over the face again and again is making me more happy with the face shape.  Here’s where I am with the painting right now. Might leave it like this. What do you think? The full size version.

Love to hate an oil painting gone wrong

Love to hate an oil painting gone wrong

This is part of an oil painting where things haven’t quite gone the way I want it to. Then again, when does ever?! Having everything go the way I think at the start is a sure way of not painting a masterpiece. The process of letting the idea, brush and colours lead the way is a sure way of discovering things. This painting sits in the kitchen easel and I see it all the time. I’m a novice in painting, and even more so in painting with oil. I’m eager to make quantum leaps in my painting and looking at something...

The beginning of it all

painting

The beginning of it all

I didn’t want to paint, or I really deep down wanted to but didn’t think I could. Then one day... ...I just started to paint. And I could. I wanted to add some colour to a black and white Posca pen drawing. I got some yellow paint, a brush and then some more paint. And I haven’t stopped since then (june 14th 2019 if someone’s counting).  Isn’t it great to go back and look at your progress? Awesome is what it is! Love where I started off, love the progress, love where I’m at right now, and love where I’m...

Falling in love with a brush

Falling in love with a brush

There are brushes and there are brushes. For a while I wanted to try the Catalyst by Princeton synthetic brushes and now I have! They are A M A Z I N G! Stiff and yet responsive. And they look so yummie too. Gosh, I’m a nerd 😊 I bought mine at Jackson’s Art but I’ve seen these brushes elsewhere too.

Doodle, doodle, doodle

doodle drawing

Doodle, doodle, doodle

”Let your pencil run wild!” Got a pen, got a piece of paper? Then draw! I get som many of my ideas from just letting my hand and pencil work its magic. When taking notes, listening to something or whatever. Always draw. And then draw some more. This is a little scribble I made in a notepad a while back. Tomorrow I’ll paint something from it. Happy times!

The girl in the window

acrylic sketch

The girl in the window

I'm experimenting a lot with how I paint people. For art stuff I think I've found a style that I really like to take further. You can see it in works like Woman with dog and I have a bunch of sketches in this style. Yet it's still nice to paint and sketch in different styles. I love this one, the too big head and all. I have a big head myself ;)   Currently on display at Café La Vache in the corner of Storgatan and Kungsgatan in Luleå, Sweden. Here's the first sketch I made. I made the...

Creative work boosts creative work

acrylic creativity fabric painting

Creative work boosts creative work

It’s all about seeing and the connection between the inner picture and the hand recreating that picture. So all creative work boosts creative work. In any area. When I write I take better pictures. When I take pictures I paint better. When I work with textiles or try something like working with wood, I become a better painter. Acrylic painting on wool felt

Watching wet paint dry

Watching wet paint dry

I got to admit I love painting with oil. Something happens with my painting and I kind of like how I bring my painting game to this medium.  This piece is drying up and will turn up in the shop section when dry and signed. That gives me a couple of days to come up with a name :) Oil painting time lapse
